Diploma thesis shows the preparation of a test engine and its installation to test cell. It describes measurement and data post processing necessary for common-rail diesel engine control and their application in the creation of a mathematic model in GT-SUITE.

Modification of a diesel generator for parallel operation with the grid

This works applies the idea of adjustment an engine-generator, so it is possible to connect an engine-generator, or other type of a generator, to the electricity. Consequently, the machine can transform the power supply without an outage. This work concerns the complex approach, provides the descriptions of particular parts, sensors and active components of a motor-generator and includes the explanation of their function. Further research is focused on designing and drawing a plan with a choice of a control unit for the whole system. Finally, the work deals with the complex implementation and testing the machine in real operation.

Furthermore, there is an overview of the most commonly used injection systems with the principle of operation, advantages and disadvantages of the embodiment. There is also processed the issue of the emission standards. This thesis contains a list of the world's leading manufacturers of commercial vehicles and their injection systems. Finally there is a reflection on the future development of injection systems.
Utilization of Waste Vegetable Oils as an Alternative Fuel for Diesel Combustion Engines

In the introduction this thesis brings a short summary of the energy, environmental and economical balance, related to the production and use of conventional fuels for diesel engines, and compares them with possibility of using recycled cooking vegetable oils as a fuel. The main part focuses on the laboratory analysis of major physical and chemical properties of this alternative fuel and on their comparison to diesel fuel, especially according to ČSN EN 590 norm. In conclusion there is a proposal of diesel vehicle modification to be propelled with waste vegetable oils.

It deals with currently used systems, theirs application in passenger cars engines and theirs effect on emissions in exhaust gases. It is concluded that the Common Rail injection system is currently the best, which we can use in passenger's cars diesel engines.
